THE COMPETITION
ABOUT US
Asociación Educativa Peruana de Economía (formerly Asociación Escolar) was founded in 2022 and organized the first edition of the Peruvian Economics Olympiad that same year.
In 2023, AEPE sent the first Peruvian team to represent the nation at the IEO, held in Volos, Greece. Since then, it has been in charge of the selection and preparation of Team Peru at the IEO every year.
AEPE is currently inscribed in the Registro Nacional de Organizaciones Juveniles (National Youth Organization Registry).
elegibility
It is NOT necessary to have an academic background in economics, business, or finance. Winners of the PEO 2026 will be trained free of charge in the weeks prior to their participation in the IEO.
Being enrolled in a high school and working toward a high school graduation diploma as of December 1st, 2025
Being a Peruvian citizen or having been a Peruvian resident for at least two years prior to December 1st, 2025
Being born after June 30th, 2006
Having an intermediate or advanced level of English, both spoken and written.

IEO 2026
The International Economics Olympiad (IEO) by Ecolymp International is the largest and most prestigious competition for high school students of its kind. In 2022, AEPE was accepted for its first one-year agreement with the IEO, allowing us to celebrate the Peruvian Economics Olympiad (PEO) and send the first Peruvian team to participate in it.
PARTNERSHIP
Renewing AEPE’s agreements with the IEO, we bring the PEO 2026 as its fifth yearly edition. We remain the only organization empowered to select the official Peruvian team to attend the International Economics Olympiad.
GLOBAL VENTURE
The IEO 2026 will be hosted both virtually and in person at Suzhou’s Xi’an Jiaotong–Liverpool University. With participation across around 50 nations, it can be highlighted as one of the most internationally enriching experiences for high schoolers in the field of economics.
prepARation
Every PEO competition round is meant to mimic one of the three IEO contest phases in order for the national team to be well acquainted with the procedure. All official winners will receive assistance in their preparation for the IEO 2026 free of charge.
Networking
The PEO offers not just an opportunity to deepen knowledge, but also to broaden networks among similarly-oriented young people. Previous PEO and IEO winners include individuals from top economics and business programs worldwide.
ARE YOU A UNIVERSITY STUDENT?
You can apply to be a Team Leader: represent Peru at the IEO in a leadership position, judge the final round of the competition, and help the competing team reach victory
Duties of a team leader
REPRESENTING PERU AT THE IEO
You will accompany the team of 5 high school students throughout their participation in the IEO, and be present for the economics and financial literacy rounds.
JUDGING THE PEO AND IEO
You will be a guest judge at the business case of the PEO 2026, helping decide the contestants that will represent Peru at the IEO. Likewise, you will have the chance to judge over 50 international teams’ business cases at the IEO.
PROMOTING THE PEO AT SELECT SCHOOLS AND EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS
You will represent AEPE at certain keynote events and promote participation at the PEO for high school students
